TIG (The Inter Group) is a pharmaceutical marketing agency in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, building websites, brands, SEO, PPC, animation and video for pharma and biotech companies across the UK and internationally. We have designed and built 25 websites for life-science businesses, including VacV Biotherapeutics, Sareum, Citryll and MoonLake Immunotherapeutics, and we are certified to ISO 9001 for design, photography and website design and build.
If you are taking a therapy from pre-clinical work towards the clinic, raising a funding round, or trying to explain a mechanism of action to people who are not scientists, this article explains what we do, how we do it inside the rules, and what it has looked like for the companies we have worked with.
In short
- One pharma marketing agency for the whole brand: strategy, website, identity, search, paid media, animation, video, photography and print.
- Compliance built in: copy and campaigns written to the ABPI Code of Practice and the MHRA Blue Guide, not reviewed at the end.
- Proven in the sector: 25 pharma and biotech websites live, 15 years working in life sciences, ISO 9001 certified since 2005.
- North Yorkshire based, UK and international reach: clients across the UK, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United States.
what makes pharmaceutical marketing different?
Three audiences, one set of rules, and no room for a vague claim.
Pharmaceutical marketing is the promotion of medicines, therapies and the companies behind them to investors, partners, healthcare professionals and, where the law allows, patients, within the UK’s regulatory framework for medicines advertising. It is one of the few marketing disciplines where the most important audience often cannot legally be advertised to at all.
That framework has three parts. The Human Medicines Regulations 2012 prohibit advertising prescription-only medicines to the public in the UK. The ABPI Code of Practice, administered by the PMCPA, sets the standard for promotion to healthcare professionals. The MHRA Blue Guide sets out how the regulator interprets the law on advertising medicines. A marketing agency that has not read all three can get a pharma client into trouble.
who you are actually talking to
Most of the pharma and biotech companies TIG works with are pre-revenue or early-revenue, so their website exists to convince investors, licensing partners and future employees rather than to sell a product. That changes everything about the page: the pipeline chart matters more than the product shot, the science has to be accurate enough for a due-diligence reviewer and clear enough for a generalist fund manager, and every claim needs a source. When a client does move into a commercial phase, the site has to change with them, which is why we build for it from day one.
compliance built in, not bolted on
Our writers and designers work with your regulatory or medical affairs lead from the first draft, so claims, references and disclaimers are agreed before the design is finished rather than after. In practice that means a reference list for every scientific statement, a clear split between corporate and promotional content, and geo-targeting or gating where content is only permitted for certain audiences. It is slower on the first page and faster on every page after it.
pharmaceutical website design and development
Fast, accurate and built to grow with your pipeline.
TIG has designed and built 25 websites for pharmaceutical and biotech companies, on WordPress and as custom builds in Laravel, each one designed to meet Google’s Core Web Vitals thresholds (LCP 2.5 seconds, INP 200 milliseconds, CLS 0.1) and the WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standard. Each one had to do several jobs at once: explain the science, show the pipeline, reassure investors, meet regulatory expectations and be easy for a small team to update.
what a pharma website has to do
A pharmaceutical website is judged by a harder audience than most. Investors want a pipeline chart they can read in ten seconds, scientists want the publications and posters, partners want to know what is licensable, and candidates want to know who they would work with. We plan the site around those four journeys, then design it so that the science is the visual language rather than a stock photo of a pipette.
examples of our pharmaceutical web work
- Yellowstone Biosciences: a clean, user-friendly site built to present their scientific offering to partners.
- Memo Therapeutics: a structured, fully optimised website for a company with global ambitions.
- George Medicines: a content-rich site focused on therapies for underserved conditions.
- VacV Biotherapeutics: a modern site explaining their viral immunotherapy platform to investors and partners.
Every site we build is hosted, backed up and maintained by TIG, so the same team that designed it keeps it fast, secure and current. Read more about our pharmaceutical website design and build and website management services.
pharmaceutical branding that earns trust
Credibility is the product until the product exists.
TIG is a pharmaceutical branding agency as well as a web agency, and has created or refreshed brand identities for 15 life-science companies including Citryll and MoonLake Immunotherapeutics. In pharma, a brand is not a logo and a colour; it is the visual and verbal evidence that a company is precise, credible and serious enough to be trusted with capital, data and patients.
branding for pharma and biotech startups
A biotech spinning out of a university or raising a seed round usually needs a name, an identity, a pitch deck and a one-page website inside a few weeks, and needs all four to look like the same company. We have done exactly that for 8 early-stage companies. The identity has to survive a Series A, a partnering deal and a possible change of lead asset, so we design systems rather than one-off logos: typography, colour, scientific illustration style and a tone of voice that a new hire can pick up.
brand systems for established pharma
For companies with an existing identity, the work is usually consistency: a brand guideline that the exhibition team, the investor-relations team and the website all follow. We produce guidelines, templates, congress stands and print from one system, so a partnering meeting at BIO-Europe, a poster at a medical congress and the website all look like the same company. See our branding and design and exhibition design services.
digital marketing for pharma: SEO, PPC, social and content
Reach the people who decide, without breaching the Code.
As a pharma digital marketing agency, TIG runs search engine optimisation, paid search, paid social and content programmes for pharmaceutical and biotech clients, with every piece of copy checked against the ABPI Code before it goes live. We currently run search, paid or social campaigns for 10 life-science clients. The audiences are narrow and expensive to reach, so the work is about precision rather than volume.
SEO for pharmaceutical companies
Pharmaceutical SEO targets investors, researchers, healthcare professionals and potential partners rather than the general public, which changes the keyword set completely. A biotech ranking for its own mechanism of action, its target indication and its lead candidate’s name will be found by the analysts and business-development teams who matter; ranking for a patient-facing term it is not allowed to promote on is a compliance risk, not a win. We start with technical foundations, then scientific content written to be cited, then digital PR into trade and scientific press. For MoonLake Immunotherapeutics, average Google position improved from 10.2 to 6.5 year on year, on the same 84,100 impressions (Google Search Console, last three months against the same period in 2025). Read more about our technical SEO and organic SEO for pharma companies.
pharmaceutical advertising and PPC
Google restricts healthcare and medicines advertising by country and by product type, and prescription-only medicines cannot be advertised to the UK public in any channel. Within those limits there is still plenty of room: corporate and recruitment campaigns, disease-awareness campaigns that meet the Code, congress and event promotion, and highly targeted LinkedIn campaigns to named job titles at named companies. We set up the account structure so that every campaign has a documented compliance status. See our PPC services.
social media and content for life sciences
LinkedIn is where pharma and biotech audiences are, and it is where most of our clients’ organic social effort goes: funding announcements, publications, congress presence, hiring and leadership content. We plan, write and design it, and we build the approval step into the workflow so nothing goes out that medical affairs has not seen. For content, we write the long-form pieces investors and partners read, from platform explainers to pipeline updates, and the plain-English versions of the science that a journalist can quote. See social media strategy and content and copywriting.
pharma marketing consultancy and strategy
Where to spend, in what order, and why.
TIG provides pharma marketing consultancy to companies that need a plan before they need a campaign: what the brand should say at each stage of development, which audiences matter this year, and where a limited budget does the most work. It usually starts with a half-day workshop and ends with a twelve-month plan that names the channels, the content, the events and the measures. We have run 8 strategy engagements for life-science companies since 2011.
what a consultancy engagement covers
A typical engagement covers positioning and messaging, competitor and comparator analysis, an audit of the current website and digital presence, an investor and partner communications plan, and a channel plan with budget. We deliver it as a written document the board can read and a roadmap the team can run. Where the client has an in-house marketer, we work alongside them rather than around them.
a long-term partner, not a one-off supplier
Most of our pharma and biotech clients have worked with TIG for years, because the drug-development lifecycle is long and the company that launches a Phase 2 study is not the company that spun out four years earlier. We handle the website, the brand, the search and the creative as one team, with monthly reporting, one account lead and no hand-offs between agencies. See our digital services.
animation, video and photography for science
Show the mechanism. Show the lab. Show the people.
TIG produces scientific animation, video and photography in-house, from a studio in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, for pharmaceutical and biotech clients who need complex science explained visually to investors, partners and clinicians. We have produced 10 scientific animations and 5 corporate films for life-science clients.
mechanism of action animation
A 60 to 90 second mechanism-of-action animation does what four pages of text cannot: it shows a biological pathway, a delivery mechanism or a platform technology in a form a non-specialist can follow. Our animation for Citryll is below and is used in their investor and partner presentations. We storyboard with your scientific team, reference every step, and deliver versions cut for the website, LinkedIn and the conference screen. See animation services.
corporate and investor video
Brand films, leadership interviews, lab walkthroughs, investor updates and launch videos, filmed and edited by TIG’s own crew. Video lets a founder explain the science in their own words, which is what an investor is actually buying. See videography and post production.
laboratory and facility photography
Pharma audiences notice stock photography immediately, and it undermines the credibility everything else on the page is trying to build. We photograph real laboratories, real equipment and real teams, on location or in our studio, and deliver an image library the company can use for years across web, print and press. See location photography.
biotech and life sciences marketing across the UK and beyond
From spin-out to scale-up, in North Yorkshire and far from it.
TIG works as a biotech marketing agency for companies across the UK life-sciences clusters, including Cambridge, London, Surrey and the North West, and for international clients in Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United States. Being based in North Yorkshire rather than London keeps our rates competitive, and a train ride to London or Cambridge means we are in the room when it matters.
The sector we serve includes small-molecule and biologics developers, cell and gene therapy companies, medtech and diagnostics businesses, CROs and CDMOs, and the investors and consultancies around them. Our life-science clients include Sareum in Cambridge, VacV Biotherapeutics and George Medicines in London, Essential Pharma in Surrey, Yellowstone Biosciences in Cheshire, MoonLake Immunotherapeutics and Memo Therapeutics in Switzerland, and Citryll in the Netherlands. If your business is in the life sciences and needs to explain itself clearly to a demanding audience, it is in scope.

Pharmaceutical Marketing: Your Questions Answered
1. What is pharmaceutical marketing?
Pharmaceutical marketing is the promotion of medicines, therapies and the companies that develop them to investors, partners, healthcare professionals and, where permitted, patients, carried out within the rules that govern medicines advertising. In the UK that means the Human Medicines Regulations 2012, the ABPI Code of Practice and the MHRA Blue Guide. For a pre-commercial biotech it is mostly corporate and scientific communication; for a company with a licensed product it adds promotion to healthcare professionals and, for over-the-counter medicines only, to the public.
2. What does a pharmaceutical marketing company do?
A pharmaceutical marketing company plans and produces the brand, website, content, search, advertising and creative that a pharma or biotech business needs to reach investors, partners, clinicians and patients, and makes sure all of it meets the medicines advertising rules. TIG (The Inter Group) provides all of these pharmaceutical marketing services in-house from North Yorkshire: strategy, web, brand, SEO, PPC, social, animation, video, photography and print, with one account lead.
3. How is pharmaceutical marketing regulated in the UK?
4. Do you work with biotech and pharma startups?
5. How do you measure success in pharmaceutical marketing?
We agree the measures before the work starts, and they depend on the stage of the company. For a pre-commercial biotech the measures are usually qualified investor and partner enquiries, visits to the pipeline and publications pages, search visibility for the platform and indication terms, and engagement from named target companies on LinkedIn. For a commercial-stage company they add healthcare professional reach and campaign response. Every client gets a monthly report with the same measures each month, so the trend is visible.
